I’m by no means a “survivalist” but I do like to learn how to do things, especially wilderness / survival skills and it’s an extra plus if those skills will help me cope through the aftermath of a hurricane here in FL.
This is by no means a fancy solution, but its an effective one. Since I live very near salt water, I have the added bonus of desalinating water and leaving behind some sea salt for cooking.
Cost was about $25:
- Aluminum stock pot from Walmart = $13
- Fittings & hosing from hardware store = $12
The PVC tubing I’m using in this picture isn’t really the right kind as I think the temperature rating isn’t high enough so I’ll be switching that out soon, but otherwise it is working just fine.
